2014: Formal Sister Cities

In 2014, less than two years since the initial Digital Trade Mission group of 12 delegate, our group has grown to over 200 people on both sides of the Atlantic actively engaged in continual daily and weekly communications with counterparts in support of the Austin-Hackney relationship.  And, new colleagues are joining nearly every day. 2013: Year of Growth

2013 was a pivotal year of growth and accomplishment for our Austin-Hackney relationship.  It was the first full year since our cities joined together in a first-phase Friendship Cities agreement in January 2012. Our Committees on both sides of the Atlantic took this as a challenge to set a new bar for the speed, intensity and breadth of accomplishments that could be attained in such a short period of time by two passionate and determined new friends. Read more about our current stories here. 2012 – The Seeds Are Planted

SXSW is known as the Mecca for innovation, networking and making connections; it is a goldmine for those that seek to make and nurture business relationships and SXSW 2012 proved to be no exception. To appreciate the immense strides Austin Hackney United has taken from 2012 to now, one must first step back to mid-2012 when the seeds were first planted by visits from a business or civic leader from each community to the other.  In January 2012, our cities joined in a first-phase Friendship Cities agreement. Read more about our current stories here. Read more about 2012 here.
